Biography
Hasan Banna, Ph.D., is an engineer, researcher, and educator specializing in semiconductor fabrication, micro- and nanotechnology, thin-film materials, and sensor systems. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Michigan State University, where his doctoral research focused on thin-film sensors, microfabrication, device characterization, and reliability for advanced sensing applications.
Dr. Banna has research and engineering experience across academia, national-level research collaborations, and the semiconductor industry, including appointments and projects at Michigan State University, Fraunhofer USA, Intel Corporation, East China University of Technology, and Seoul National University of Science and Technology. His technical expertise includes photolithography, electron-beam lithography, CVD, PECVD, PEALD, reactive ion etching, thin-film deposition, semiconductor metrology, electrical characterization, and statistical process optimization.
His research interests include semiconductor process development, functional thin films, MEMS and micro/nanoscale devices, environmental and electrochemical sensors, advanced materials, and intelligent sensing systems. He is particularly interested in integrating materials science, semiconductor manufacturing, and device engineering to develop reliable technologies for environmental, biomedical, and electronic applications.
In addition to research, Dr. Banna is actively engaged in engineering education and student development. His teaching interests include electrical circuits, electronics, semiconductor devices, instrumentation, sensors, mechatronics, manufacturing processes, and engineering laboratory education. He is committed to hands-on, application-oriented teaching that connects fundamental engineering principles with modern industrial technologies.
Dr. Banna has also contributed to student mentoring, interdisciplinary research collaboration, and professional activities through organizations such as IEEE and the Bangladesh Nano Society.
