Eighteen Michigan State University College of Engineering students received first-place awards at the 2026 University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) at the Breslin Center in April. Students from 14 colleges participated in MSU's premier showcase for undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity.
Inaugural Apple Manufacturing Academy Spring Forum explores future of AI in manufacturing
Once a theoretical idea, artificial intelligence is becoming a critical tool for manufacturers across the globe. Some manufacturers are slow to embed the evolving technology into their factories, with concerns around operational costs, trust, transparency and workforce readiness. Industry leaders, students and faculty gathered at the inaugural Apple Manufacturing Academy Spring Forum, in partnership with Michigan State University, April 30 – May 1 to explore how overcoming these barriers could unlock AI’s long-term potential.
Annual high school programming contest showcases Michigan talent
Michigan State University recently hosted the 14th Annual Programming Competition for 10 teams of high school students from around Michigan. Students from East Lansing High School, Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Midland High School and the St. Clair County Technical Education Center came to the Engineering Building to compete in novice and experienced programming categories.
MSU Engineering honors 2025-26 graduate student award winners
The Michigan State University College of Engineering recognized outstanding graduate students during its Graduate Awards Ceremony on April 30, celebrating doctoral research, academic achievement and the ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity and impact. The annual awards highlight graduate students whose work reflects the breadth of Spartan Engineering, from artificial intelligence, advanced materials and biomedical innovation to sustainable infrastructure, environmental systems, computational modeling and mechanical design.
Alumni Awards 2026
Eight distinguished alumni of the Michigan State University College of Engineering were honored with 2026 Alumni Awards on Saturday, April 25, at MSU’s Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. MSU Engineering also recognized a high school educator whose noteworthy efforts to teach technical education and computer science reflect positively on MSU and the college.
Trustees honor 34 Spartan Engineers for 4.0 GPA excellence
Three hundred and fifteen Michigan State University graduates accomplished something many students dream of — a perfect college GPA. Among the honorees, 34 are from the College of Engineering.
Spartan Engineers prepare for commencement weekend
Michigan State University will host advanced degree and undergraduate commencement ceremonies for College of Engineering graduates during the weekend of May 1-3, 2026. All Engineering ceremonies will take place at the Breslin Student Events Center, 534 Birch Road, East Lansing, MI 48824.

Navya Bhardwaj will graduate on Sunday, May 3, 2026, with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering and minors in data science, and computational mathematics, science and engineering. She is president of MSU Women in Computing and served as co-director of SpartaHack.
Engineering student entrepreneurs earn honors at Burgess New Venture Challenge
Two College of Engineering ventures were among 15 student startups that took the stage April 9 at Michigan State University’s Burgess New Venture Challenge, the university’s premier pitch competition for student entrepreneurs. Competing before an audience of more than 400 students, alumni, investors and community leaders, Spartan founders vied for $50,000 in non-dilutive grant funding, with two engineering-led ventures earning honors for ideas rooted in efficiency, automation and real-world problem-solving.
