The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers the following undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The shared program allows students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply for admission to the master of science (M.S.) degree program. If accepted, up to 9 credits from their MSU undergraduate program may also be counted toward the requirements for a master’s degree. These credits must be at the 400-level or above.
Requirements
Admission to the program requires a minimum grade-point average of 3.0.
Students should complete the Request for Shared Enrollment form their junior or senior year (before they take their first shared course). They then apply for admission the semester AFTER they have graduated with their bachelor’s degree. (For example, if you graduate with your bachelor’s degree in Spring 2025, you would apply for the graduate program in Summer 2025 or Fall 2025).
Application Procedure
Find an initial M.S. adviser in the focus area of interest (e.g., environmental/water resources, geotechnical/pavements, structures, transportation). The Graduate Director can assist in identifying this adviser.
Begin an application to the M.S. program in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The university graduate application system is found on The Graduate School website. Complete the required information, but do NOT pay the application fee. The fee is waived for shared enrollment students. Inform the graduate program coordinator that you have completed the application, and they will assist in processing your request.
