National Teen Driver Safety Week is coming up, Oct. 20-26, and Michigan State University's Peter Savolainen is available to discuss his research on distracted drivers.

A multidisciplinary research team from Michigan State University will use a $2.49 million grant from the National Science Foundation to conduct a four-year study examining the impacts of autonomous vehicles on the future workforce.

The MSU Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering welcomed two new faculty members at the start the 2019-20 academic year. Bora Cetin and Kristen Cetin joined MSU as assistant professors in August 2019. They came to Michigan State from Iowa State University (ISU).

MSU will partner with Amesite, Inc., an artificial intelligence software company providing online educational courses and programs for higher education.

PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are colloquially known as "forever chemicals" because they are so difficult to break down. They are found in water supplies wherever flame retardants, waterproofing or vapor suppressants are used. PFAS can be absorbed through direct contact (drinking, bathing, swimming) or indirectly (eating meat or vegetables that have been exposed to PFAS).
