Richard Lunt and MSU upgrade solar power
The Biomedical and Physical Sciences Building on the campus of Michigan State University received a first-of-its-kind upgrade with the installation of transparent solar glass panels. The 100 square feet of transparent solar glass installed above the building's entryway will generate enough electricity to power lighting in its atrium.
ChEMS leadership changes
Donald Morelli, who has led the Michigan State University Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science (ChEMS) for six years, will be stepping away from the chair position in August. University Distinguished Professor Christina Chan will serve as interim chairperson of the department, effective Aug. 16, 2021.
Extreme electronics
Tomorrow's cutting-edge technology will need electronics that can tolerate extreme conditions. That's why a group of researchers led by Michigan State University's Jason Nicholas is building stronger circuits today.
Improving polymer nanocomposites
A collaborative study led by researchers at Michigan State University, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and Argonne National Laboratory has unraveled the molecular origin of the high mechanical strength enhancement of polymer nanocomposites.
Interim Faculty Excellence Advocate
Robert Ofoli will serve as Interim Faculty Excellence Advocate (FEA) for the MSU College of Engineering. He replaces Tamara Reid Bush, who was recently named Interim Chairperson of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
