Spartan Engineers graduate at two MSU commencements Dec. 15-16
Michigan State University will honor more than 400 graduates from the College of Engineering during Commencement on Dec. 15-16, 2023. Engineering will graduate around 325 undergraduates, 47 master’s degree and 44 Ph.D. candidates during two graduation ceremonies.

MSU joins Indy Autonomous Challenge, partners with Milan team
Michigan State University is racing into the future by entering into a two-year agreement with Politecnico di Milano in Italy, and the University of Alabama to participate in the Indy Autonomous Challenge. MSU is the first and only team from Michigan to race in the IAC series, which officially launched in 2019 and brings together academic institutions and public-private partnerships to challenge university students from across the globe to invent and test a new generation of automated vehicle software — including advanced driver assistance systems, or ADAS — to operate fully autonomous race cars.

Brelin-Fornari knows how to develop programs at the university level. She spent 20 years at Kettering University in Flint (formerly General Motors Institute) serving as director of the Center for Integrated Learning Experiences and Crash Safety Center.

College welcomes academic and instructional experts
The Michigan State University College of Engineering welcomed 19 academic and instructional experts in 2023. The college currently has 238 tenure system faculty. Engineering Dean Leo Kempel said the recent additions help the College of Engineering at a time of unprecedented growth and innovation.
