The College of Engineering is among Michigan State University’s top producers of research discoveries and commercialization that help build a diversified economy and generate jobs for Michigan and the region.

Michigan State University’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Chapter celebrates a milestone this month that connects generations. The student organization recognizes its 50th year and embraces the journey traveled to show that engineering shouldn’t have barriers.

Mahmood Haq of Michigan State University has been interested in “lightweighting” vehicles since before EVs took off. Haq is the director of the Composite Vehicle Research Center (opens in new window), or CVRC, at MSU, which was established in 2006.

This July, the United States Army announced a new $9 million initiative it’s pursuing with Michigan State University to make electric autonomous vehicles safer, smarter and more dependable.

Michigan State University has named Judd Herzer as the director of MSU Mobility to help amplify and focus the university’s vast research activities in the smart-vehicle landscape. Satish Udpa, University Distinguished Professor in the College of Engineering at MSU and co-founder of MSU Mobility, has been fulfilling the duties of this newly created role in an interim capacity while the university looked for the ideal candidate.

Exceptional leadership in the specialized field of biomechanics has won another national honor for a professor in the College of Engineering at Michigan State University. Tamara Reid Bush was awarded the Savio L-Y. Woo Translational Biomechanics Medal, one of only six recognitions presented annually by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Bioengineering Division.
