People with limited mobility are at risk for pressure injuries (PI). PI are painful, costly, and unfortunately, common. They affect 2.5 million US patients annually and lead to infections that cause more than 60,000 deaths and $26.8B in costs to US hospitals. Plus, injuries sustained by caregivers who reposition patients to avoid PI can impose a heavy toll, leading to lasting pain and the potential for ending careers.
This graduation season, more than 1,100 Michigan State University College of Engineering graduates are taking their next steps into careers, research, continued education and professional growth. After a national search, John Papapolymerou has been recommended as dean of the College of Engineering at Michigan State University, effective June 1, 2026. He will serve as dean designee prior to the June 12 meeting of the MSU Board of Trustees. Papapolymerou has served as interim dean since Oct. 1, 2024.
