A researcher at Michigan State University has received a prestigious Accelerator Stewardship Award from the Office of High Energy Physics at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to advance use-inspired basic research in accelerator science and technology.

Tim Potter saw a problem and wanted to be part of a solution. "More and more bikes are on roads not designed for shared use, and an increasing number of drivers are distracted by smartphones and other interferences," said Potter, MSU Bikes sustainable transportation manager and avid cyclist.

Object detection studies by an electrical engineering student at Michigan State University have earned him a prestigious Robert W. Young Award for Undergraduate Student Research in Acoustics.

The Michigan State University Amateur Radio Club (MSUARC) - one of the country's oldest university ham radio clubs - turns 100 this month. "We're celebrating a milestone," said Faculty Adviser Gregory Wierzba. "The club has been a licensed ham radio station for a century. It's been on the air almost as long as radio licenses have been issued.
