A professor of electrical and computer engineering is on a team of Michigan State University researchers working on a NASA-funded project that could aid future missions to Mars and beyond.

MSU Foundation Professor Xiaobo Tan has been named a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).

John P. Verboncoeur received a B.S. (1986) in Engineering Science from the University of Florida, M.S. (1987) and Ph.D. (1992) in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California-Berkeley (UCB), holding the DOE Magnetic Fusion Energy Technology Fellowship.

Michigan State University faculty member Joydeep Mitra has been named a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for contributions to the development of power system reliability methods.

Jeffrey Nanzer of Michigan State University will receive the 2019 Outstanding Young Engineer Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) this summer in Boston.

There's a hall of fame that sits on three shelves in Percy Pierre's office in the Michigan State University College of Engineering. The black bound volumes of PhD dissertations begin with his own from 1967 and travel through time from Dale Joachim's in 1998 to more recent ones, including Kayra M. Hopkins and Armand Rashad Burks in 2017.

Michigan State University signed a dual Ph.D. agreement with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) for the preparation and training of engineers at both academic institutions during ceremonies on Sept. 28 in Greece.
