The Michigan State University College of Engineering offered new summer camps for K-12 students in 2024. One pilot project was a Semiconductor Camp, which was run by Nelson Sepúlveda, professor and interim chair of the MSU Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Two Spartans named ARPA-E Early-Career Innovators
Two researchers in the Michigan State University College of Engineering have been named Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) Early-Career Innovators and will receive $1 million for breakthrough transitions in clean energy.
Sepúlveda named interim leader for ECE
Nelson Sepúlveda has been named interim chairperson of the Michigan State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) beginning July 1, 2024.
MSU Engineering honors 16 for dedicated service
Five staff members retired from the Michigan State University College of Engineering in 2023. Additionally, 11 others have been honored for many years of service tos Michigan State. Engineering Dean Leo Kempel thanked each Spartan Engineer for their contributions and dedication.
2023-2024 Graduate student research award winners
The Michigan State University College of Engineering Graduate Student Awards Ceremony and Graduate Research Symposium showcased nearly 200 students. The annual events, created by the college in 2012, give participants ranging from first-year graduates to those nearing completion of their Ph.D. the opportunity to share their work and network with faculty, staff and industry partners.
Ranjan Mukherjee named new associate dean
Ranjan Mukherjee has been named associate dean for faculty and administrative affairs at the Michigan State University College of Engineering. He is the Martin J. Vanderploeg Endowed Chair and a professor of Mechanical Engineering in MSU Engineering.

Honoring alumni for outstanding contributions
The Michigan State University College of Engineering honored eight distinguished graduates with 2024 Alumni Awards on Saturday, April 27, at the Kellogg Conference Center in East Lansing, Michigan. The alumni were honored for their significant achievements and outstanding contributions as leaders in computer science, education, entertainment, finance, manufacturing, and environmental sustainability.
Spring 2024 Design Day: 15 Spartan Engineering teams honored
The April 19, 2024 Spring Design Day at the MSU College of Engineering honored students with multiple awards. The Michigan State University College of Engineering celebrated the 30th anniversary of its premier undergraduate event on Friday, April 19, 2024.
