MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D., and Interim Provost Thomas Jeitschko congratulated the newest Endowed Chairs, Endowed Professors and MSU Research Foundation Professors and Red Cedar Professors on Feb. 18, including six from the College of Engineering.

The Michigan State University College of Engineering recognizes 18 faculty and staff members with awards for their excellence in service and distinguished contributions. Each year, faculty and staff are nominated by their colleagues, industry peers and students for the most prestigious honors the college offers.

Alliance for African Partnership (AAP), a consortium of 10 leading African universities, Michigan State University and a network of African research institutes, has announced the recipients of the 2024 Partnerships for Innovative Research in Africa (PIRA) seed funding.

Michigan State University’s College of Engineering welcomed seven faculty in Spring 2025. Interim Dean of Engineering John Papapolymerou said that these additions will help the growing student body become innovative and solution oriented.

Anil K. Jain has received the prestigious BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Information and Communication Technologies for core contributions to machine learning which have unlocked “applications of far-reaching impact on society as a whole.”

Selin Aviyente, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Michigan State University, is one of five experts named by IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) to its 2025 Class of Distinguished Lecturers. She will serve a two-year term in 2025 and 2026. 

Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences has named the award recipients of the 2024 Cancer Seed Funding Program. Building on the success of the 2022 and 2023 cancer research pilot and integration award funding initiatives, this year the program awarded 14 new cancer research awards totaling $700,000.

The Michigan State University College of Engineering celebrated Engineering Design Day on Dec. 6, 2024. The event, now in its 31st year, showcased student projects from the Departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
