Dr. Bouzid Choubane is the Director of the National Center for Pavement Preservation (NCPP). For more than 35 years, he has been actively involved in transportation infrastructure and materials related areas and technologies. In his current role, he directs and leads NCPP to provide the outreach, education, and research needed to preserve our nation's transportation infrastructure. Prior to being appointed ... Director of NCPP, he was with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for 25 years. During his tenure with FDOT, he provided leadership, strategic direction and oversight for materials and transportation-related work and research programs as well as built strategic partnerships with private entities and academic institutions to implement multi-million dollars work and research programs. In addition, he provided FDOT with the required technical expertise for safe, efficient, resilient, and durable transportation infrastructure systems. Before joining FDOT, he was a Research Associate at the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada. Dr. Choubane has also chaired or served on more than 20 committees, sections, groups, panels, and task forces of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies, as well as on various other Expert Task Groups and technical advisory panels and editorial boards. He is a recipient of various professional awards. He has authored or co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed technical papers and served as the editor for two Special Technical Publications. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
