Biography

David Bertram is the Director of Economic Development for the MSU College of Engineering. He serves as an advisor to the dean and executive leadership of the college for economic development opportunities at the state, national and global level. He is focused on new program opportunities for research with industry and through government channels including public-private partnerships while building ... on existing programs in the college. A focus of his role involves organizing the college response to large externally sponsored research and development and talent opportunities in conjunction with college research and talent development teams. He has more than 25 years of experience in government relations, economic development, strategic planning, policy development and communications. He served as the Associate Vice President for State Relations in the MSU Office of Government Relations for more than 10 years (2011-2022). He led the government relations effort for the Michigan Townships Association as the Legislative Director for more than 14 years, worked as a legislative liaison in the Executive Office in Michigan and earned a Bachelor of Political Science degree from Lake Superior State University.
