Biography

Laura Dillon served on the faculty of the University of California Santa Barbara for 12 years before joining MSU in 1997. An ACM Distinguished Scientist, Laura’s research centered on formal methods in software engineering. She previously served on the editorial boards of IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering and ACM Transactions on Software Engineering and Methodology. She was Vice Chair of the ... ACM Special Interest Group in Software Engineering and chaired several top software engineering research conferences.

A champion of broadening participation in computing throughout her career, Laura was a founding co-advisor of MSU Women in Computing, Chair of the first Michigan Celebration of Women in Computing, Program Co-Chair of the 2011 Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (GHC), and General Co-Chair of GHC 2012. She served two years as a Co-Chair of the Anita Borg Institute Advisory Board and three years as a member of the NCWIT Academic Alliance Executive Committee. She continues working with CSE to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility of its programs as Chair of the CSE DEIA Steering Committee.
