Tim Hinds, director of MSU's CoRe Experience, was named the vice chair elect for the American Society for Engineering Education's First Year Programs Division during the 126th ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition in Tampa in June.

He will be the 2021 conference chair and 2022 division chair.
Hinds has served as the director of MSU Engineering's Cornerstone & Residential Experience (CoRe) since Jan. 1, 2018.
CoRe provides academic and co-curricular activities for first-year engineering students and is aimed at building the whole engineer.
Each year, CoRe immerses more than 1,400 freshmen in hands-on design projects and provides a living-learning environment in MSU's South Neighborhood for more than 1,100 of those students. In addition to classes and labs, special seminars, advising and academic support are available within the residence halls. The co-curricular programming of CoRe is open to all engineering students. Learning from each other and through hands-on and co-curricular activities, students discover how to function in a collaborative, team-based, diverse setting.
