His thesis, "An Automated 3D Pose Estimation System for Sow Health Monitoring," is a precision livestock farming system that utilizes neural network AI to predict 3D pose estimates for health monitoring and assessment. It also features a custom data collection system and a method for quick annotation generation for video to train neural network models.

Yik is a two-time Spartan grad, receiving MS (2020) and bachelor's degrees (2018) in electrical and computer engineering.

He is the former leader for MSU's AutoDrive Challenge team.
