MSU author among top 100 cybersecurity books

Enbody receiving worldwide recognition for his cyber attacks book

A Michigan State University computer scientist is getting worldwide recognition for his book, "Targeted Cyber Attacks."

Richard Enbody

The 2014 publication, coauthored by Richard Enbody, associate professor of computer science and engineering, and former Ph.D. student, Aditya Sood, continues to be popular and is listed at #39 on Book Authority's Top 100 Cybersecurity Books.

A cybersecurity book written by Spartan Engineers remains at #39 worldwide.Enbody said the book has sold at a steady rate since being released. It has even been adopted as a required text by a course at the University of Manchester in England and, it has been translated into Chinese.

Books like this tend to sell for a couple years and then find their way falling off in sales, he said. The difference with this book is that it is one of very few on a rather important topic.

"The targeted attacks that it addresses are the most pernicious cyber-attacks," Enbody said. "When you see a major breach in the news it is almost always the result of a targeted attack."

The book heavily reflects the kind of research going on at MSU, as well as the quality of our graduate students, Enbody added.
