Rohan Challa ’22 nominated for prestigious scholarships

MSU nominates Rohan Challa for Churchill and Marshall scholarships

Spartan Engineer Rohan Challa has been nominated by Michigan State University for two prestigious study abroad graduate school honors – the Churchill Scholarship and the Marshall Scholarship.

Challa graduated in May 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in materials science engineering. He is a member of Honors College.

He is currently a mechanical design intern at Consumers Energy in Novi and will begin as a mechanical designer for Consumers Energy in the near future.

Challa said his career goal is to be a renewable energy engineer.

“I am interested in making renewable energy, especially wind and solar energy, more efficient and economical,” he noted.

While at MSU, Challa served as a research assistant from 2018-2022 and was president of Habitat for Humanity.

The Churchill Scholarship offers 18 American students of exceptional ability and outstanding achievement the opportunity to pursue graduate degrees in engineering, mathematics, or the sciences at Churchill College at the University of Cambridge in England.

The Marshall Scholarship provides support to approximately 50 of the most outstanding undergraduates in the country to study at any university in the United Kingdom.

MSU has produced a total of 16 Churchill Scholars, 19 Marshall Scholars, five Mitchell Scholars and 20 Rhodes Scholars.
