Showcase of Stars hands out $115,000 in scholarships

Students honored at annual networking event

The Michigan State University College of Engineering awarded $115,000 in scholarships during the 2023 Dean’s Showcase of Stars on March 21.

This year’s event included 180 students and corporate guests. It was hosted in the MSUFCU Club on the fourth floor of Spartan Stadium.

Engineering Dean Leo Kempel addressed the group and congratulated the students for their dedicated efforts to earn STEM degrees.

“I am happy to recognize these academically outstanding students today,” Kempel said.

Diversity Program Office (DPO) Interim Director Liz Burbatt was the lead on the annual scholarship celebration and served as emcee.

Also greeting the students were Engineering Inclusion and Diversity (EGRID) Associate Dean Tammy Reid Bush and Assistant Dean Kyle Foster.

More than 100 scholarships, ranging from $500 to $2,500 were presented.

The company and scholarship sponsors this year are 3M, Aptiv, Boeing, GE Aerospace, General Mills, Marathon, PPG, Rosa L. Wilkins, and P.U.S.H. (Providing for Undergraduate Students facing Hardship).
