
The U.S. Department of Defense has announced $221 million in awards for defense-related research projects as part of the Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) program.
Michigan State University has been recognized by the Department of Defense as a member of two successful research teams that have received funding for projects.
The average award amount for each MURI program grant is $7.5 million over five years, according to a Department of Defense news release.
The projects with MSU research involvement:
- Machine Learning Enabled Two-pHase Flow Metrologies, Models, and Optimized DesignsS (METHODS)
- Tensor Approaches for Simulating Kinetic Systems
MSU is working on the METHODS project with Purdue University (primary university), the Georgia Institute of Technology, Case Western Reserve University and Brown University.
The second project includes researchers from the University of Delaware (primary university), the University of Washington, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Leland Stanford Junior University and the University of California - Santa Cruz.
