Selin Aviyente, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Michigan State University, is one of five experts named by IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) to its 2025 Class of Distinguished Lecturers. She will serve a two-year term in 2025 and 2026.
Aviyente’s research at MSU focuses on the theory and applications of non-stationary signal processing and network science. She is also interested in the applications of these methods to understanding human brain connectivity and the analysis of neurophysiological signals.
Four additional colleagues were honored with the appointment of Distinguished Lecturer and they are: Patrice Abry (Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, France), Scott T. Acton (University of Virginia, USA), Mathews Jacob (University of Virginia, USA), and Hanseok Ko (Korea University, Korea).
The IEEE SPS Distinguished Lecturer program provides access to well-known educators and authors in the fields of signal processing for meetings and events.
