Thanking: Pauline Vandyke as she retires

Administrative assistant/supervisor retires after 42 years at MSU

After 42 years of steadfast and dedicated support to MSU, Pauline Vandyke is preparing to say good-bye to the green and white. The administrative assistant/supervisor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) will retire at the end of 2021.

Pauline Vandyke

Vandyke spent 41 years in the College of Engineering, starting her career with one year in the biophysics department before becoming a Spartan Engineer.

"I will miss all the friendships that I have developed with staff, faculty and graduate students," she said. "The friendships that were developed will continue once I leave MSU."

ECE Chair John Papapolymerou said Vandyke will be remembered for her positive and important efforts in their department and the entire college.

"I would like to thank Pauline from the bottom of my heart for all she has done for our department during the last 41 years," Papapolymerou said, "and wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life. ECE is better because of Pauline's tireless efforts and contributions, and we will always be indebted to her for the tremendous impact she has had on the department and all of us."

Following retirement, Vandyke will continue living in the area in the summer, but plans to be in a warmer climate in the winter months. She's looking forward to some traveling, volunteering with food shelters, take a quilting class, and even joining a senior exercising class.

"I'll always remember the ECE holiday parties with students, staff and faculty, along with former employees of the university visiting. They are my favorite memories," she added. "It has been a real pleasure working in the ECE department."
