A teaching specialist in the Michigan State University College of Engineering is being remembered after passing away on June 14, 2022.
Matthew Rupp, of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), had a long relationship with MSU, said Engineering Dean Leo Kempel.
Rupp received a dual-Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Ecology from MSU in 2011, working closely with CSE Professor Charles Ofria and CSE Associate Professor Eric Torng, who is also associate chair for research and faculty development, and associate dean of the graduate school.
After a few years as a postdoc and software developer, Rupp joined CSE as a teaching specialist in 2019. During his tenure, he taught and co-taught many courses, including CSE 260, 335, 450, and 801A.
“Matt will be remembered for his many contributions to the profession and his students,” Kempel noted. “His passing is a great sadness.”
