A Michigan State University College of Engineering alumna and current teaching specialist has received a prestigious honor that will take her overseas.
JoAnn Ballor, a 2022 Ph.D. graduate, has received the Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship and will work in Span and Germany for two years. Her fellowship begins in September.
Ballor is currently a teaching specialist in the college's Applied Engineering Sciences (AES) program. She earned her Ph.D. at MSU in materials sciences and engineering, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Michigan Technological University.
While teaching at MSU, Ballor has also held an adjunct instructor teaching position at Lansing Community College.
Last year, Ballor was interviewed by Lansing's WILX-TV News 10 for a story on her efforts to educate students about the ways metal is manipulated to create different products.
