The College of Engineering offers a one-credit course, EGR X, for students completing an internship or co-op. This course helps students reflect on their experience, develop a professional mindset, strengthen ethical awareness, and thoughtfully engage with current events.
Host a Spartan undergraduate through our Intern for a Day Program — a one-day, virtual or in-person shadow experience tailored to your organization. View the program overview to learn more.
Recent federal guidance has significantly restricted eligibility for Curricular Practical Training (CPT). Under the current guidance, CPT generally may be authorized only when practical training is a mandatory part of the established curriculum for all students in a degree program. Enrollment in an optional internship course, including EGR X, may no longer be sufficient to qualify for CPT.
International students should consult with the MSU Office for International Students and Scholars before accepting or beginning an internship or co-op experience. The Engineering Career Center remains available to assist with career planning, resumes, networking, employer communication and exploring opportunities in the United States and internationally. Students are encouraged to continue attending career events and building professional connections with employers and alumni, both here and in their home countries.
