Four College of Engineering faculty members are among 37 Spartans who will receive All-University Awards at Michigan State University on Tuesday, April 7, at 4:30 p.m. at the Breslin Center Hall of History.

The Spartan Engineers and their awards are listed below.

The William J. Beal Outstanding Faculty Award  honors comprehensive and sustained record of scholarly excellence in research and/or creative activities, instruction and outreach. The award is supported by the Office of University Advancement at MSU.

  • Yadu Pokhrel, Civil and Environmental Engineering

Teacher-Scholar Awards  are presented to faculty who have earned the respect of their students and colleagues for their devotion to and skill in teaching, and whose instruction is linked to and informed by their research and creative activities. This award is supported by the Office of University Development.

  • Caroline Szczepanski, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science

The Distinguished Academic Staff Award  recognizes the outstanding achievements of those professionals who serve the university in advising, curriculum development, outreach, extension, research and teaching.

  • Maddalena Fanelli, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science

On Thursday, April 16, Spartans in international research, teaching and outreach will be honored with International Awards, including:

The Ralph H. Smuckler Award for Advancing International Studies and Programs at MSU

  • Wei Liao, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, MSU Anaerobic Digestion Research and Education Center, and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
