Two Michigan State University College of Engineering students have been selected to an elite group that will take part in a one-of-a-kind event this week.

The students - Mariam Shahab and Brett Volmert - will take part in Ignite Talks MSU, a free event that aims to inspire attendees through a series of dynamic and fast-paced research presentations.

Ignite Talks MSU will be held from 7-8:30 pm Thursday at the Residential College's Arts and Humanities Theater located in Snyder-Phillips Hall, 362 Bogue St. Shahab and Volmert are two of nine MSU students representing multiple multiple colleges who were selected for this event.

These students will share their ideas, stories and expertise in a concise and impactful format. Each students has 5 minutes to convey their idea and share their topic using 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds. This event is open to the public. For more information, visit the event page.

In the spring of 2023, Ignite Talks MSU initiated an open call for MSU students to submit their ideas for a talk. The event drew 31 student applicants. Students from a wide array of fields were encouraged to apply, spanning arts, science, technologies and more.
