Li and Anctil recognized for excellence in research

Two faculty members from the Michigan State University College of Engineering have received among the highest honors presented to faculty members at MSU. The awards recognize outstanding faculty members for research that enhances MSU’s intellectual prominence nationally and globally.

Wen Li was named an MSU Research Foundation Distinguished Professor. Li is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is affiliated with the Institute for Quantitative Health Science & Engineering and serves as executive director of Fraunhofer USA Center Midwest.

Li was recognized for pioneering contributions to BioMEMS, neuroprosthetic devices, and advanced integration and packaging technologies for biomedical systems. Li’s work has helped reshape how researchers and practitioners approach scalable and translational biomedical devices and microsystems.

Li was also recognized for leadership and service to the profession through mentorship and cultivating the next generation of scholars and innovators.

Annick Anctil was named a Red Cedar Distinguished Professor. Anctil is an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering AgBio Research. She also serves as assistant director of the MSU Industrial Training and Assessment Center.

Anctil was recognized as a national and international leader in the environmental sustainability of energy systems. Her excellence in research, teaching and service has brought unique strengths to the department and fostered interdisciplinary collaborations across industry, academic and policy partners, as well as across MSU.

The MSU Research Foundation Distinguished Professorship and Red Cedar Distinguished Professorship recognize outstanding faculty and help enhance the stature of MSU’s intellectual work to national and global prominence.

Li’s MSU Research Foundation Distinguished Professorship is effective June 1, 2026. Anctil’s Red Cedar Distinguished Professorship is effective July 1, 2026. The awards were announced by the MSU Office of Research and Innovation and the Office of the Provost.
