Biography
William Harokopus, an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has over 30 years of experience in computational electromagnetics, wideband antennas, radomes, direction-finding systems, and phased arrays. Prior to joining Michigan State in 2023, he was a Principal Fellow at Raytheon. Dr. Harokopus worked across business areas to provide technical leadership for key RF sensor programs, leading several Active Electronic Scanned Array (AESA) and wideband ESM research and development programs. His work led to seven patents in antenna, radome, and direction-finding systems. He chaired Raytheon’s Multifunction RF system symposium and co-developed/co-instructed Raytheon classes/lector series on numerous technical areas including: RCS, radomes, polarization, and Fourier series/transforms. His research interests include conformal antennas, arrays, radomes and heavy ion testing of semiconductor devices. Dr. Harokopus received his PhD. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor MIHe is a member of IEEE, served in leadership positions in IEEE Antennas and Propagation, and has authored five peer reviewed journal papers on Computational Electromagnetics.
