Biography
Dr. Jiyoon Yi’s research program focuses on developing biologically contextualized AI models to forecast microbial behavior in complex food and biosystems. Her interdisciplinary team integrates wet lab experiments with computational modeling to improve pathogen detection, characterize soil microbiome interactions, and predict microbial responses under dynamic conditions.
She teaches Heat and Mass Transfer in Biosystems (undergraduate core) and Machine Learning for Biosystems (graduate). She also mentors BE Senior Design teams working with food industry partners and advises the Michigan chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Honor Society.
