Teresa VanderSloot and Geralynn Phelps of the Michigan State University (MSU) College of Engineering received the 2025 Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN) and DiscoverE Girl Day Award. The award recognizes organizations and individuals who empower girls with information about opportunities in engineering through the “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” initiative.

Ten Michigan State University engineering students were awarded the Dean’s Choice Award for their dedication and time spent volunteering at Broadening Participation K-12 programs. The awards were sponsored by Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) and hosted by the College of Engineering.

Coding for all is a goal of Spartan Engineers at Michigan State University. For the past 15 years, MSU has hosted a computer science community outreach program, one of them is called the Technovation Coding Club.

The event, held in the Engineering Building, was organized to inspire the next generation to choose career paths in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

Michigan State University hosted the 11th Annual Programming Competition on Saturday, March 18, for 130 high school students on 50 teams from around Michigan.
