Abdol-Hossein Esfahanian has been named chairperson of the Michigan State University Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) - the largest academic department in the College of Engineering and one of the largest at MSU.

Spartan Engineers from near and far will come together on Michigan State University's annual day of giving to support engineering students on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

In a continuation of international accolades, University Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Anil Jain of Michigan State University has been elected a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

More than 550 students will participate in Design Day on Friday, Dec. 6 - the highlight of the academic semester in the Michigan State University College of Engineering. Hundreds of students will showcase their technical, creative, and team-building skills to solve real-world challenges.

Alex Feltus and O. Vernon Burton occupy very different research realms at Clemson University, but they share a passion for digging up meaningful gems buried in mountains of data. Feltus, a computational biologist, looks for genetic secrets to improving agricultural production and fighting disease.

Two leaders in the College of Engineering are both assuming full-time roles for the interim positions they have held since February. Engineering Dean Leo Kempel announced that Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies (UGS) Amanda Idema will assume responsibility for Undergraduate Studies within the Dean's office and Neeraj Buch, interim chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), has been named CEE chair.

Tim Potter saw a problem and wanted to be part of a solution. "More and more bikes are on roads not designed for shared use, and an increasing number of drivers are distracted by smartphones and other interferences," said Potter, MSU Bikes sustainable transportation manager and avid cyclist.
