Martin Hawley has been a student, teacher, administrator, and leader at Michigan State University for 65 years, and he’s about to add a new title to the list – retiree.

He's literally raised millions of dollars for the Michigan State University College of Engineering, helping to spur on many of the college's noteworthy academic achievements and construction projects in recent years.

A $2 million cash gift from a 1946 graduate of Michigan State University has established the Martin C. Hawley Endowed Chair in Chemical Engineering at MSU.

Xiaobo Tan, an MSU Foundation Professor of electrical and computer engineering, was featured at AAAS during a lecture and presentation on GRACE, MSU's robotic fish that uses a flexible mechanized muscle to move through water and sense hydrodynamics.
