Biography

Kakan Dey, Ph.D., P.E., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU). He was an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Wadsworth Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU) from 2016 to 2023. Dr. Dey’s research primarily focused on emerging connected and automated mobility service modeling, ... intelligent transportation systems (ITS) data analytics, statistical and machine learning (ML) modeling, and traffic safety and operations. He received the prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) Early CAREER Award 2023. Dr. Dey’s research has been sponsored by federal, state, and regional agencies such as NSF, US Department of Transportation (US DOT), Ohio DOT, Tennessee DOT, Nevada DOT, Minnesota DOT, and University Transportation Centers (UTCs).
