Biography

Dr. Kakan Dey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dr. Dey’s research primarily focuses on emerging connected and automated mobility service modeling, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) data analytics, statistical and machine learning (ML) modeling, and traffic safety and operations. His research has been sponsored by federal, state, and regional ... agencies such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), US Department of Transportation (US DOT), Michigan DOT, Minnesota DOT, Ohio DOT, Tennessee DOT, Nevada DOT, South Dakota DOT, and University Transportation Centers (UTCs). He is a member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Vehicle Highway Automation (ACP30) Committee and the ASCE TDI Committee on Freight and Logistics and served in TRB Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Applications (AED50) Committee (2017- 2023). Dr. Dey co-edited the textbook “Data Analytics for Intelligent Transportation Systems,” published by Elsevier. He is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems and the IET Intelligent Transport Systems Journals.
