Welcoming 14 new faculty

Michigan State University’s College of Engineering welcomed 14 faculty members to its world-class academic team in Fall 2025. Interim Dean of Engineering John Papapolymerou said these additions will help the college successfully support a growing student body and expand research and innovation that matters to Michigan communities and beyond.

“We are pleased to welcome this impressive group to our college,” said Papapolymerou. “Their passion for teaching and research is unprecedented and inspiring, and we look forward to the many contributions they will make as Spartan Engineers."

Meet the new faculty:

  • Dylan Anstine, assistant professor, chemical engineering and materials science
  • Omid Beik, assistant professor, electrical and computer engineering
  • Dmitri Cordova, assistant professor, chemical engineering and materials science
  • Cheri Deng, chairperson and professor, biomedical engineering
  • Lei Fan, assistant professor, mechanical engineering
  • Ian Gonzalez Afanador, teaching specialist, technology engineering
  • Huazhen Fang, associate professor, mechanical engineering
  • Padmaja Krishnan, assistant professor, civil and environmental engineering
  • Declan McClintock, teaching specialist, technology engineering
  • Alyssa Ryan, assistant professor, civil and environmental engineering
  • Jonathan Turnley, assistant professor, chemical engineering and materials science
  • Maggie Williams, assistant professor, civil and environmental engineering
  • Yilin Zhang, assistant professor, chemical engineering and materials science
  • Nick Zou, assistant professor, civil and environmental engineering
