Applied Research Associates Inc. (ARA), a scientific and engineering research company headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M., has opened an innovation center within the University Corporate Research Park, just south of the Michigan State University campus, the MSU Foundation announced Feb. 15.

Michigan State University researchers, equipped with $3 million from NASA, will investigate innovative methods to improve dams so that they are less harmful to people and the environment.

Competitors from the 48 high school and 28 middle school teams should report to Grandville High School for the 2018 state championship games. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:15 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
